Positive Comments:

  • This highly enjoyable audio offers a balanced presentation of life in Kandahar.
  • The accents are enjoyable even if one does not know if they are reliably correct.
  • The narrator creates characters of different ages with a voice that fits not only a child but also an adult.
  • The narrator successfully creates the intense moments in the plot.

Observations:

  • A member working with Muslim students thinks that the accents are accurate.
  • The story itself seems strange with women being allowed to go away from home without men.

Concerns:

  • The too-neatly resolved ending makes the story have the quality of a fairy tale.
